First Date Tips

We all know that first impressions are important, and a first date is the first impression you make on a potential partner (and that they make on you). A first date is a great time to set boundaries and learn about your compatibility but it can be confusing to know how to make the right impression. Here are 3 tips to help you make your first date a success!

1 – Don’t be afraid to give up

This might sound like weird advice, but if you know with certainty that you and your date are not compatible – get out early. Base level things like if you are looking to settle down are deal-breakers and setting that line in the sand now will save you a lot of heartache down the road.

2 – Be yourself

We know, it’s a cliche, but it is important to give an accurate representation of yourself. If you are bold, be bold – if you are naturally quiet, be quiet. Don’t change yourself to fit an ideal you have in your head, it doesn’t bode well for a new relationship.

3 – Give yourself times

Sometimes, even if you feel ready to date, you might not be. If you are unreasonable anxious, insecure, or otherwise unsettled before a first date it might be best to take a step back. Make sure you are really ready for a relationship, first date jitters are normal but extreme anxiety could be an indication you need more time for yourself first.
